Macro - Yellow Orb Weaver Spider

Yellow Orb Weaver Spider

It’s been more then 2 month the last time I went for macro shot. Well lucky I still able to get hang of it. I found this yellow orb weaver spider and a wasp grub is hanging on it’s abdomen sucking the nutrition out from it’s body. It will suck the spider  fluid slowly for 2 weeks until it’s dead. Watch the video here posted by Orionmystery for how the wasp grub manage to survive.

Macro–Jumping Spider with prey

Jumping Spider with Prey IV

I brought back this jumping spider to my home because I’m unable to shot this spider on location. Why? Because there’s too much mosquito on that area and I did not prepare for it lol. So I put inside a plastic container and catch a mosquito to feed it at night then I take out my dslr and shoot it when it’s eating the prey. I have so much fun and exited watching the spider catching the prey flying around the plastic container. The Jumping spider did not move much after the mouth is full with food..lol. Enjoy the rest of the pics.

Jumping Spider with Prey III

Jumping Spider with Prey II

Jumping Spider with Prey I

All picture were shot with Tamron SP AF90 attach with Raynox DCR-250. So the magnification of all the picture is around 2:1 if I’m not mistaken.

Macro–Golden Spiky Ants–Battle of the Titan II

Golden Spiky Ant - Battle of the Titan II

I have no idea what are they fighting for. This 2 Golden Spiky Ants is battle it all out while there are few others watching at the side. It is like watching historical movie in Ancient Rome, the Battle of the Titan. This is the 2nd time I shot this ants fight. The link for the first shot I took few month way back is here Battle of the Titan I. This Golden Spiky Ant is easier to shoot as they are not too actively moving much like their other species the Black Spiky Ants.

Golden Spiky Ant

And here it is the Golden Spiky Ant is posing before the fight begins.

Ant Mimic Spider

This picture actually taken last year during Penang Butterfly Insect showcase last year at 2010. Found it at the entrance from the car park outside. Most people would assume this is a spider but actually it’s an Ants mimic spider species. I do not know what is the family name or scientific name coz I’m not an expert in this sort of stuff..lol.

Macro–Fruit Fly Mating

Fruit Fly - Mating

This is actually my 2nd fruit fly mating picture. The first quality is quite bad as the fruit fly tend to be very small in size. This photo I took is about 40% crop of the original 1:1 magnification and it still look small..lol. With this photo taken, it is proven the fruit fly generation will be secure Smile.

Weaver Ants

Even though the weaver ant’s is a little bit our of focus, but I still upload it to my flickr because I like the lighting and colors contrast between the ant’s and the green leaf. It make this picture wonderful. I do not have much picture of weaver ant’s but hopefully I will able to get some decent shot one day and share with you guys.

Macro–Black Spiky Ants eating

Black Spiky Ant

Shot this beautiful Black Spiky Ants. I do not know the ants is eating when I’m shooting, only I knew when I open it at my laptop for post processing. I would have no chance to shoot this ant's because they area actually not a very good models. They move around non stop..lol. At the picture you can see the leaf below is bending, that’s because I use my other finger to bend the leaf and move it closer to my lens to shoot.
